Philippe Coutinho has signed a contract extension with the English football club Aston Villa, keeping him at the club until 2026.
Coutinho, 29, joined on loan from Barcelona after former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard, who is now Villa manager, persuaded the Brazilian to join the West Midlands club.
Aston Villa has agreed to sign the forward following his impressive performances.
“Aston Villa is delighted to announce the permanent signing of Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona for an undisclosed fee,” Villa wrote on its website.
“The Brazilian playmaker has agreed to terms on a contract extension until 2026.”
“After joining Villa Park on loan from Barcelona in January, Coutinho made an immediate impact with some outstanding performances.” He has four goals and three assists to his credit so far.”
“This is a fantastic signing for Aston Villa,” said head coach Steven Gerrard. Phil is a model professional, and his influence on the group has been palpable since his arrival in January.
“With his demeanor on and off the field, he’s also a valuable role model for our younger players, who can only benefit from his experience.”
“As we prepare for next season, it’s incredible to work at a club that runs its operations so decisively and smoothly.”
