Ghana have set up a meeting with rivals Nigeria in the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers after beating Benin.
Black Galaxies defeated Benin 1-0 in Cotonou on Saturday to secure qualification with a 4-0 aggregate victory, following a 3-0 victory at the Cape Coast Stadium last week.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, who scored Ghana’s first goal in the first leg, was the hero on Saturday, scoring in the 82nd minute to give Black Galaxies back-to-back wins over Benin.
Ghana will now play Nigeria in two legs, with the winner qualifying for the tournament, which will be held in Algeria in January 2023.
The first leg will be held in Ghana in late August, with the return leg in Nigeria in September.
Ghana are looking to return to the championship after missing the last three editions. Black Galaxies finished second twice in the first three editions.
