Ghanaian students in Ukraine are attractive to government, to as a few emergency consider evacuating them from the Ukraine-Russia region, following reviews of tensions and violent clashes.
1 of them, Paul, a medical college student, told Joy Information on Thursday that foreign students in the region are residing in fear on the recent developments.

“As of now, we are all in the rooms, however they are saying if you don’t have a shelter you should move to the underground. In case God touches the heart of our government and they evacuate us, we will be very happy, ” this individual said.
To substance their woes, this individual said students are saddled with the burden of having to consider food as there exists a food lack because of the events.
“Currently I possess two containers of water and four biscuits which I went away today to get. Once i got to the shop, it was very full and there have been only a few containers of water. We wanted to buy bread however they [people] have purchased all the bread from the shop, I had been so shocked, ” this individual said.
Government’s reaction
Meanwhile, Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said it is gravely concerned about the safety and security of Ghanaians residing in Ukraine subsequent reports of stress and violent schisme.
Based on the Ministry, the government has in the meantime requested over 1, 500 students and other Ghanaians to seek help at authorities places of protection.
This is to ensure their security temporarily as authorities “engages the government bodies, our relevant diplomatic missions and our honorary consul on further measures. ”
Government’s statement provides a time when the National Partnership of Ghana College students (NUGS) has called for instant expulsion of Ghanaian students from the Ukraine-Russia region.
“As the conflict escalates within the region, government authorities of countries across the world are prioritizing the expulsion of their residents from the area, to forestall damage to their residents. Currently, a quantity of students have fled the region, showing growing low self-esteem and fear among our students.
A few of those students including Chapter Professionals of NUGS in Ukraine have handled down and made contact with the National Secretariat of NUGS, advising that urgent steps appear at ensure the safety of the acquaintances still in the area.
